Report Animal Cruelty

Animal Cruelty

If you think you have seen an animal being abused or neglected please contact the National Cruelty Help Line on 1890 515 515.

If in doubt and you need some initial advise please contact the Offaly SPCA on 086 3785584.

In an emergency your local Garda Station can be contacted. See list of stations below.

Gathering Evidence to help an SPCA

Once you have located the person to speak to, please try to provide him/her with a concise, written, factual statements of what you have observed, giving dates and approximate times. If you can, photograph the situation and date your photographs (using a still camera). You should also try to get short, factual, written statements from other witnesses.
Always keep a record of whom you contact, the date of the contacts, and the content and outcome of your discussions with each of them. Never pass on a letter or document without making a copy for your file.

What to Look For

Physical condition, does the animal have food, shelter and water? Abnormal stereotypic behaviour; unnecessary suffering; travel accommodations (if transported).
